Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 he was best known as the lead singer, and guitarist, and songwriter of the grunge band Nirvana. The band Nirvana was formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1985, after signing with a major label DGC Records the band found success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from there second album Nevermind that Kurt hated singing. Kurt Cobain was very much influenced by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Queen, Aerosmith, and Kiss. Kurt Cobain also expressed his fondness for John Lennon whom he called his idol in his released journals. January 12, 1990 Kurt met Courtney Love when they both still led underground rock bands. Courtney Love saw Kurt first preform in 1989 at a show in Portland, Oregon they briefly talked after the show and Courtney developed a crush on him. Around the time of Nirvana's 1992 performance on Saturday Night Live, Courtney discovered she was pregnant with Kurt's child. A few days after a tour Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love were married on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Throughout most of his life Kurt suffered from chronic bronchitis and intense physical pain due to an undiagnosed stomach condition. During the last years of his life, Kurt struggled with a heroin addiction, illness and depression. He also had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife. On April 8, 1994 at age 27 Kurt Cobain was found dead at his Lake Washington home by an electrician who had arrived to install a security system. Kurt was found with a shotgun pointing at his chin and a suicide note was then found later on. In 2005 a sign was put up in Aberdeen Washington that reads "Welcome to Aberdeen Come As You Are" as a tribute to Kurt Cobain. Nirvana with Kurt Cobain as a songwriter has sold over 25 million albums in the U.S. and over 50 million worldwide.
