Tim Burton my favorite director was born on August 25, 1958 in Burbank California. After majoring in animation at the California Institute of Arts, he worked as a Disney animator. Tim Burton became known for creating visually striking films that blend themes of fantasy and horror. As a child, Tim Burton enjoyed classic horror films many that featured screen villain Vincent Price. In 1980 he began working as an apprentice animator for Walt Disney Studios. In 1982 he released the award winning short film Vincent. In 1984 he created a unique version of the Frankenstein story with the live-action short Frankenweenie. Impressed with Frankenweenie, Paul Reubens commissioned Burton to direct the comedy Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. After forming his own production company Tim Burton directed Batman in 1989, it became the first film to sell $100 million in the first 10 days of release. The following year Burton directed the film Edward Scissorhands.
In 1992 Tim Burton directed The Nightmare before Christmas created with stop-motion animation with mostly everything made out of clay. In 1994 Tim Burton casted Johnny Depp as the main character in the movie Ed Wood. After producing the third installment Batman Forever and the animated feature James and the Giant Peach, and the sci-fi spoof Mars Attacks. In 1999 Tim Burton directed the film version Sleepy Hallow, of the haunting tale The Legend of Sleepy Hallow with Johnny Depp as the main character Ichabod Crane. In 2001 Tim Burton remade Planet of the Apes. In 2005, he released a remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring Johnny Depp and the stop motion animation The Corpse Bride, which received an Oscar nod for the Best Animated Feature Film.
